Having to go back so quickly after the holidays was really an adjustment for all and I have to say 4-3 is looking forward to the nice long weekend!
We took some time today to reflect on why we don't have school on Monday. We watched a wonderful video on Discovery Education. Please follow the link below. Have your student use their Google username and password to sign in. Once signed in they should choose the "Assignment" button on the menu bar. They can share with you the video and the discussion questions that we used to have an interesting conversation about Dr. Martin Luther King, the history of the holiday, tolerance and service to others.

SOCIAL STUDIES
We finished up our work in Chapter 3 of Social Studies about the Native Americans and the cultural regions where they settled. We will begin Ch. 3 and 4 next week which will focus on European Motivation to Explore and Exploration of the New World.
A note from Mrs. Brown in the LMC....
Dear parents of fourth graders,
We just finished a research project on Native American tribes in our library lessons in the library media center. This project connected with social studies curriculum in the classrooms. Fourth grade students researched two Native American tribes. They pretended to be Native American children who had to decide with which tribe they planned to live. They used facts from their research to help themselves make the decision.
To view their research posters, please follow this link to the Student Projects page on the LMC website. On that page, scroll down until you find the Native American projects. Click on the class link for your child's class. This will open a list of individual posters. If your child doesn't have a poster linked to the document, it means that he/she didn't finish the project (possibly due to absence).
Please let me know if you have any questions about the projects. Hopefully, you will have a chance to talk with your child about his/her work.
