The last several weeks have been quite busy in 4-3. Students are genuinely enjoying the units of study we are immersed in and the different projects that go along with the curriculum. The activities in the last 1-2 weeks have truly enhanced their learning and it was evident by the level of engagement on the students' part how much they were invested in their own learning.
As I interacted and observed each student I was pleased to see the use of important skills such problem solving, collaboration, and reflection. We have covered everything from engineering design to the different ways remainders can be expressed in long division.
Students also were able to use their knowledge gained in the Schoolwide literacy fiction unit by choosing a traditional literature genre to retell or create one from their own imagination. They loved having the opportunity to write creatively, and were required to include as many features as possible that are found in their chosen genre as they imagined it.
Knowing that they were going to have readers to share their completed products with made their writing even more meaningful. Ms. Musich's 2nd grade class and Mrs. Nordman's 1st grade students visited our authors, and students shared their stories that were published using the Ipad app Book Creator.
Even with all of that going on, we still found time to have some Valentine fun thanks to the wonderful planning and efforts of our fabulous room reps and parent volunteers. A big thank you... I can see where the students get all of their creativity from!
Please take a look at the photographs in this post of our wonderful week and to see learning at its best!
